Most of Gwynedd lies within Snowdonia National Park . Along with Mount Snowdon . Welsh is spoken by almost three quarters of the population.

In 1991, the area's population was approximately 113,000, an increase of around 4000 from 1981. The latest Welsh Office projections predict the population will rise further to approximately 119,000 by 2006. Gwynedd's economic base is concentrated on agriculture and service sector employment.
