North Wales Race Equality Network
Established in 2000, the North Wales Race Equality Network (NWREN) exists to challenge racial discrimination, promote racial harmony and to work towards equality of opportunity for the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) population in North Wales.
NWREN is an umbrella agency, encompassing BME individuals from a wide range of backgrounds (e.g. Afro Caribbean, Indian, Bangladeshi, Chinese, Filipino, Scandinavian, West and East European, Irish, Welsh and English). NWREN also includes community organisations within its governing body including the Filipino Association, Chinese School, Chinese Women’s Group, SHEKINA, Bangladeshi Community Association, Islamic Cultural Centres, Ethnic Business Support and Citizens Advice Bureau Cymru.
The development and growth of the North Wales Race Equality Network is supported by a range of statutory agencies including Local authorities, NHS Trusts, the Fire and Ambulance Services and the North Wales Police and the widest range of Voluntary Organisations and groups across the area.
